The Sudeep starrer Phailwan is creating new records already. According to reports doing the rounds, the film has been offered Rs 14 crore for its Hindi satellite and digital rights. This is indeed the highest amount offered to any Kannada movie dubbed in Hindi, say trade sources. We can expect an official announcement about this once the deal is inked.

Produced and directed by S Krishna, this film marks his collaboration with Sudeep for the second time after the massive success of Hebbuli last year. Incidentally, S Krishna will be making his debut as a producer with Phailwan by bankrolling it under his banner RRR Productions. Arjun Janya has been roped in to compose the tunes for the film while Karunakar will be cranking the camera. The film’s star cast also includes Suniel Shetty, Sharath Lohitashwa, Sushant Singh and Akanksha Singh. Phailwan will mark Suniel Shetty’s debut in the Kannada film industry.

Sudeep plays a boxer and wrestler in this flick, and being his first ever sports drama, he underwent a lot of training to learn the nuances of the martial arts. The actor flew down to Thailand where he underwent rigorous training under the guidance of some experts. Hollywood stunt director Larnell Stovas has been roped in to choreograph the boxing sequences in Phailwan. As the hero is playing a boxer, the filmmakers needed to create some realistic fight sequences, following which the Hollywood stunt director was brought onboard.

It may be mentioned here that a video has been released on the making of Phailwan and it has caught the attention of movie buffs massively. In the video, there are clippings that show the efforts the star has put in to transform himself into a professional wrestler.

Phailwan is slated for release on August 9. Coincidentally, after being in post-production for months, the makers of Darshan’s Kurukshetra also announced recently that the film will be hitting the marquee on August 9.
