On Friday, BJP Leader Subramanian Swamy met former BCCI chief N Srinivasan, also the father-in-law of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team principal Gurunath Meiyappan and alleged the involvement of Dawood Ibrahim in CSK’s ban.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Subramanian Swamy said, “I have investigated and found that Dawood Ibrahim and his agents are involved in discrediting N Srinivasan. I also have e-mails which prove that PIL filed by Bihar Cricket Association was originally financed by Lalit Modi, who has strong links with Dawood Ibrahim.”

Swamy said, "I came here to ask him some information which he didn't give unfortunately.” Swamy is set to appear before the Madras High Court on November 16 where he would defend the Chennai Super King’s team as he calls IPL franchisee to be a ‘pride of Tamil Nadu’.

Subramanian Swamy had filed a petition to revoke the ban of Chennai Super Kings. Speaking about his decision to fight the ban, he said, “Supreme Court appointed Lodha Committee’s decision to ban CSK is unreasonable and arbitrary and against law of natural justice as it does not refer a single charge against any cricketer of the team.”

He added, “Meiyappan has been charged for betting not spot fixing which is in violation of the law in Maharashtra. But it’s not against law in Sikkim, Goa or even online. That's not a very serious charge because of which you can ban a cricket team.”

He told that he wanted to clarify these matters with Srinivasan himself, to which the latter didn’t conform.

National Herald case

On questions regarding the National Herald case that Swamy is fighting against the Gandhis, the BJP leader said, “Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi came to high court to quash the summons saying there was no evidence against them. But there is plenty of evidence and I’m sure that Sonia and Rahul will go to jail for it."

Dhoni’s meeting

Being asked about the meeting between Dhoni and Srinivasan, Swamy said that he was not aware of the subject of the meeting. “I feel sorry that Dawood is targeting them as people are asking Dhoni to retire. But I told Srinivasan that he should make sure that Dhoni should complete his remaining 4 years."
