Director-producer Soundarya Rajinikanth and her husband, businessman and actor Vishagan Vanangamudi had a baby boy on Sunday, September 11. Sharing the news with fans, Soundarya announced the birth of their child Veer Rajinikanth Vanangamudi. “With gods abundant grace and our parents blessings… Vishagan, Ved and I are thrilled to welcome Ved’s little brother VEER RAJINIKANTH VANANGAMUDI today 11/9/22 #Veer #Blessed #BabyBoy a huge thank you to our amazing doctors @sumana_manohar, Dr.Srividya Seshadri , @SeshadriSuresh3 (sic),” she said in her Instagram post.
Soundarya and Vishagan got married in a ceremony in 2019 that saw several Kollywood celebrities and politicians attend and give the couple their blessings.
Soundarya had, in 2021, formally introduced a voice-based app called Hoote that would function like a social media platform on which people can put out voice notes instead of text. Soundarya is also working as the creative director of Ponniyin Selvan series which will be co-produced under the banner May 6th Entertainment along with MX Player. The series is directed by Sooriyaprathap S, who is a history scolar and had also worked with veteran director KS Ravikumar and Soundarya earlier.
Soundarya’s last film as a director was Velaiilla Pattadhari 2, which is an action-comedy film that was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu. The film had Dhanush and Amala Paul as the main leads along with Vivek, Hrishikesh, Saranya Ponvannan, and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles. Soundarya's first directorial venture was Kochadaiiyaan in 2014. Written by KS Ravikumar and directed by Soundarya, it was India's first photorealistic motion capture film, featuring characters design. Rajinikanth, also Soundarya's father, enacted and voiced the two lead roles.
