Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi’s strong onscreen presence in Irupatham Noottandu remains unforgettable in the minds of Malayalam film buffs even after several years of its release. Recalling it, filmmaker Arun Gopy, who is directing the film Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu with Pranav Mohanlal in the lead role and Gokul Suresh in a small but pivotal role - sons of Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi - has said in an interview to the Times of India, “No one can forget the on-screen magic created by the legendary pairing of Mohanlal - Suresh Gopi in Irupatham Noottandu. History is about to repeat itself! It was a great experience to have dear Gokul Suresh playing a guest role in Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu. Looking forward to see a pinch of the old magic again!”

Though the title looks like a sequel to the 1987 movie Irupatham Nootandu, Arun Gopy had made it clear on a Facebook post that it is not a follow-up to the movie directed by his mentor K Madhu.

In Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu, Pranav plays a surfer and has undergone basic surfing training in Bali to get into the skin of the character. It has Rachel David making her debut as heroine. The film’s technical crew is very impressive as well. Gopi Sunder is scoring the music for this film while Hari Narayanan is penning the lyrics. Abinandan Ramanjunam is cranking the camera and National Award winning editor Vivek Harshan will be handling the film’s editing. Sound designer Renganaath Ravee, stunt coordinator Peter Hein and art director Joseph Nellickal are also part of the technical team.

According to reports, the film has been shot extensively at Cape Town in South Africa, and Goa, Pala, Kanjirapally and Hyderabad in India. With the shooting wrapped, plans are on to release Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu on January 25th to cash in on the long Republic Day weekend. The first look of Irupathiyonnaam Noottaandu was released a few weeks ago and went viral among netizens. The poster featured the lead star in a stylish look sporting a suit.
