Model and Amazon Original Made in Heaven’s breakout star Sobhita Dhulipala has been roped in to play the female lead in Srinath Rajendran’s Kurup. The film is based on the life of murderer Sukumara Kurup with Dulquer Salmaan playing the title role.

Based on real life incidents around Sukumara Kurup, Kerala’s most wanted criminal, the film is scripted by Daniell Sayooj Nair and KS Aravind while Jithin K Jose has penned the story. It is well known that Sukumara Kurup is the most wanted criminal in the history of India. Accused of murdering a film representative named Chacko, Sukumara Kurup faked his own death. The film also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, Shine Tom Chacko and Krrish. Expectations are high on Kurup as it is being helmed by Srinath who had directed Dulquer’s debut film Second Show.

Sobhita Dhulipala came second at the Femina Miss India 2013 pageant and represented the country at Miss Earth 2013. This paved the way for her debut with Anurag Kashyap’s Raman Raghav 2.0 and later she starred in Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s web series Made in Heaven. She was then seen in films like Kaalakaandi, Chef and Goodachari.

Sobhita also has Nivin Pauly’s Moothon, which had its international premiere last week at the Toronto International Film Festival. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is a bilingual that will be released in Malayalam and Hindi. The filmmakers have planned it out as a bilingual considering the talented cast and crew associated with the project. Moothon also has Sujith Shankar, Soubin Shahir and Alencier Ley in the star cast.

Sobhita also awaits the premiere of her upcoming Netflix series Bard of Blood, which is based on Bilal Siddiqui’s book, where she will be starring alongside Emraan Hashmi. Sobhita will be essaying the role of Isha Khanna, a spy. The series will be launched on September 27.
