Director Nelson Venkatesan, who made an impressive directorial debut with Oru Naal Koothu, is ready with his next film that is titled Monster. If you go by the title and assume that the film will be in the horror genre, then you’re mistaken, because Nelson said in an interview to a newspaper that his target audiences are kids. The project’s title along with the cast and crew was announced on Monday. The film will be produced by Potential Studios, the production house behind films such as Maya and Maanagaram.

Talking to the Times of India, Nelson said: “When people watch the film they’ll know why we have titled it so. Calling it a family entertainer will be a cliché, because the manner in which we have treated the subject is different. Humour will be the undercurrent of the film. And roping in Suryah is the USP. He is now seen in villain roles. But in this film, he has a very unique character. His role is something audiences haven’t seen before.”

Priya Bhavani Shankar, last seen in Karthi’s recent Kadai Kutty Singam, has been roped in to play the lead opposite Suryah. Talking about Priya’s role, Nelson told TOI: “Priya plays Suryah’s pair. The story will revolve around her, but she will be out of the story.”

The film also stars Karunakaran in a crucial role. Justin Prabhakaran will compose the music while Gokul Benoy will crank the camera.

SJ Suryah has a very interesting line-up of projects. A month and a half ago, it was announced that he will share screen space with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Tamil film Uyarntha Manithan, which will be made in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously. This project will mark the Bollywood debut of SJ Suryah, who was last seen playing the antagonist in Vijay’s Mersal. The film will be directed by Tamilvaanan, who had previously directed Suryah in Kalvanin Kadhali.
