The News Minute| November 15, 2014| 7.00 pm IST Soon, train commuters can travel the distance between Chennai and Delhi in about the same time that it takes one to reach Bangalore by train from Chennai. The world’s second-longest high-speed rail corridor is to be built between Delhi and Chennai with trains running at speeds of 300 km/hour covering the distance in six hours, reported Hindustan Times. . Likely to cost about Rs. 2 lakh crore, it will be jointly developed with Chinese counterparts, said the report.  This is another project part of PM Modi’s plan to build a network of trains running between the major metros of India.  Previously, plans to construct a high-speed rail project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad were announced.
