Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan’s upcoming film, Hero, with director PS Mithran went on the floors recently and is progressing well. The actor's next with director Rajesh titled Mr Local, produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under his banner Studio Green, was slated to hit the screens on May 1 this year. However, the makers have pushed the release of the film and announced that it will release on May 17.
Now that the release of Mr Local has been pushed, it is all set to clash with the release of Vijay Sethupathi's Sindhubadh the same week.. The film is being directed by SU Raun Kumar who had previously worked with Vijay Sethupathi in films like Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi.
Mr Local is a comic caper that is being directed by M Rajesh. Sharing screen space with Sivakarthikeyan as his heroine is Nayanthara. In his recent interview to Vikatan, director Rajesh has said that it was Sivakarthikeyan who wanted Nayanthara to play the female lead in Mr Local. "After listening to the script, Sivakarthikeyan felt that the film will create an impact only based on whom we cast as the heroine. He said Nayanthara is the best choice and I also felt the same", said Rajesh.
The film also stars Sathish, Radikaa Sarath Kumar and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. The project had been predominantly shot in Chennai but for one song featuring which the team had shot abroad. Hip Hop Thamizha is composing the tunes for this venture with Dinesh Krishnan cranking the camera and Vivek Harshan in charge of the editing.
The film is being bankrolled by Studio Green, which has joined hands with Siva for the first time. The project, originally planned to be made in 2016, took off after nearly two years of delay.
And that star will also work in another film, which will be directed by Pandiraj. The film is being bankrolled by Kalanidhi Maran’s Sun Pictures. An update about this yet-to-be-titled film is that veteran actor Bharathiraja has been roped in to play a pivotal role. Siva also has a science-fiction film with Ravi Kumar. Recently, Siva took to twitter to announce that he has resumed shooting for Ravikumar’s project, which was rumoured to be put on hold due to budget constraints. This film also stars Rakul Preet Singh as an astronomer.
