Sivakarthikeyan’s rural entertainer Seema Raja is gearing up for a grand release on September 13 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. The film’s trailer was released last week during the film’s audio launch and going by the visuals, the film features a brief period portion in which Siva will be seen playing a king.

According to the industry grapevine, this 20-minute period portion will be high on visual effects and the makers have spent lavishly to deliver an outstanding output. Apparently, Siva was required to shed weight and become leaner for the period portion.

The film marks the first time collaboration of Siva and Samantha. In order to play her part, Samantha learned silambam, Tamil Nadu-based ancient form of martial arts. Predominantly shot in and around Tenkasi and Madurai, the film is rumoured to be the biggest release by far in Siva’s career. The film also stars Soori, Napoleon and Yogi Babu in crucial roles.

Interestingly, Seema Raja features Simran in a negative role. “I’m playing a negative character in this one, and it’s something very unique. It’s like another feather in my cap. The film is set against a village backdrop and it’s full on entertainment,” she had said in an interview to Hindustan Times.

The film has music by Imman, who had previously worked on Ponram-Siva films such as Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan. 24 AM Studios, the production company behind Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo and Velaikkaran, is bankrolling this project.
