Sivakarthikeyan is basking in the success of his debut production Kanaa apart from being busy with a handful of projects. In a surprise announcement, it was revealed that the star will team up with director Pandiraj for his next film. Interestingly, this will be the second film for the duo; in 2012, Siva made his acting debut with Marina which was directed by Pandiraj.
After bankrolling Vijay’s Sarkar and Rajnikanth’s Petta back to back, Sun Pictures will be producing this film next. Announcing the project, the production company tweeted on Friday, “#SK16BySunPictures @Siva_Kartikeyan @pandiraj_dir”.
Last seen in the rural entertainer Seemaraja which hit the screens last year and opened to a decent response, Siva currently awaits the release of director M Rajesh’s film titled Mr Local. He also has a science-fiction film with Ravi Kumar. Earlier this week, Siva took to Twitter to announce that he has resumed shooting for Ravi Kumar’s project. Previously, there were rumours that the film was put on hold due to budget constraints. This film also stars Rakul Preet Singh as an astronomer.
Siva also has a project with director PS Mithran, who made a big splash last year with Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai. The film will have Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, playing the female lead marking her Tamil debut and also star Arjun Sarja in a crucial role. Touted to be a racy thriller just like Irumbu Thirai, this film will also have a social message. The project will be bankrolled by 24 AM Studios, which had earlier bankrolled Siva’s Remo and Seemaraja. George C Williams has been confirmed as the cameraman.
Last year, Siva produced his first movie Kanaa, which was directed by his friend and lyricist-turned-director Arunraja Kamaraja, popular for penning the hit number ‘Neruppuda’ from Kabali. The film had Aishwarya Rajesh playing the lead role and was a cricket-based sports drama.
