Actor Sivakarthikeyan, who rose to fame with blockbusters such as Ethir Neechal, Rajini Murugan and Remo and was last seen in Seemaraja, next joins hands with director Rajesh for his yet-untitled project. The film was officially launched with a customary pooja last May in Chennai. The film also stars Nayanthara as the leading lady, making it her second collaboration with Sivakarthikeyan after last year's Velaikkaran. The project, which is currently dubbed as SK 13, is said to be titled Mr. Local, according to a Times of India report.

According to a source quoted by TOI, “Rajesh felt Mr. Local will be an apt title for this subject. He doesn’t want to divulge too much about the roles. But the title, he feels, will give a glimpse into his lead character. The team has wrapped up the shooting, and is currently busy with the post-production work.” There are reports doing the rounds that the film could be the remake of Nani and Sai Pallavi starrer Telugu film Nenu Local. The film also stars Sathish, Radikaa Sarath Kumar and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. The project had been predominantly shot in Chennai but for one song which the team had shot abroad.

The film is being bankrolled by Studio Green, which has joined hands with Siva for the first time. The project, originally planned to be made in 2016, took off after nearly two years of delay.  Studio Green had not long ago announced that Thaana Serntha Kootam director Vignesh Shivan will direct Sivakarthikeyan in their banner. However, the Vignesh-Siva combo didn’t materialise and left with no option, Studio Green had to rope in Rajesh, best known for films such as SMS and Boss Engira Bhaskaran to take over the reins.
