The shooting of Siva Karthikeyan’s next with Ponram will commence on June 16, confirm sources in the trade. The film was announced several months ago but there were no updates about the project with the lead star busy with his upcoming film Velaikaran. The groundwork for the film is almost complete and Ponram is gearing up to take it to the floors. Touted to be set with Tenkasi as its backdrop, the film will be a rural entertainer, we hear.

Director Ponram and Siva Karthikeyan first teamed up for Varuthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam, which hit the marquee in 2013. The film turned out to be a massive hit and the duo topped it up with Rajini Murugan in 2015. It was then announced that they would work together again to score a hat trick but with Siva Karthikeyan getting busy with the Bagyaraj Kannan directorial Remo and then moving over to the Mohan Raja directed Velaikaran, the project had to be postponed.

While the shooting of Velaikaran is still in progress, there is news that Siva Karthikeyan’s next with Ponram will commence on June 16. Details about the rest of the cast and crew of this film along with the title are expected to be revealed soon.

Velaikaran, an action thriller, that is being directed by Mohan Raja, marks the debut of the Malayalam actor Faahadh Faasil in Kollywood. The film has Nayanthara playing the female lead with Sneha, Vijay Vasanth, RJ Balaji and Thambi Ramaiah in important roles. This is the first time Siva Karthikeyan and Nayan would be sharing the screen space, which has upped the expectation levels. Produced by RD Raja under the banner 24 AM studios, the film is touted to hit the silver screens on September 29, 2017. Anirudh Ravichander, a close friend of Siva Karthikeyan, is composing music for this film.
