A few months ago, there were reports that Kannada actor Radhika Kumarasamy’s next project is titled Damayanti and that it will be directed by Navarasan. This was followed by rumours that the actor, who is the wife of the chief minister of Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy, will quit acting and join politics to assist her husband.

Radhika has put the rumours aside with the announcement that Damayanti would go on the floors on November 12. She will be seen playing the title role in the film, which is touted to be a horror comedy. It is a period flick set in the 1980s with oodles of VFX included. Makuta VFX has been roped in to take care of the computer graphics in the film.

Damayanti will feature veteran producer GK Reddy of GK Films as Radhika’s dad in the film. It may be noted here that he is the father of actor-producer Vishal, who is also the general secretary of the South Indian Artistes Associations and the President of the Tamil Film Producers’ Council. Reports say that Damayanti will be made in Kannada and then released in other southern languages such as Tamil and Telugu.

To be directed by Navarasan, who is also the producer of the film, it has Sadhu Kokila, Tabla Nani, Vijay Chendoor, Kempegowda, Pavan and Karthik included in the star cast for supporting roles. Damayanti is touted to be a heroine-centric film that has ample scope for performance for its lead star Radhika, say sources. There is no news about the male lead in the project till now and details are expected to be revealed soon.

Radhika also has another film in her kitty titled Bhairadevi, which is directed by Srijai. Ramesh Aravind will be paired opposite her in this flick. Her other project with Arjun Sarja, Kontract, is also progressing steadily.
