Multiple delays continue to haunt Kannada Superstar Shiva Rajkumar’s fans, as his latest movie Kavacha’s release has been postponed.

Kavacha, which was supposed to hit the screens last year, was slated to release on January 18, Thursday. However, sources from within the industry say that the movie has been postponed further and will now release on a date which is yet to be announced.

The movie, bankrolled by MVV Sathyanarayanan under the banner Hayagriva Movie Adishtana, is directed by GVR Vasu. Shiva Rajkumar plays the lead role in Kavacha with Kruthika Jayakumar as the female lead. The star cast also includes Isha Koppikar, Baby Meenakshi and Vasishta N Simha in pivotal roles. According to sources, Shiva Rajkumar will appear as a blind man in the movie. Rahul Shrivastav has handled the camera for Kavacha and the music has been composed by Arjun Janya.

Kavacha was in fact inspired from the Malayalam blockbuster Oppam, which was directed by ace director Priyadarshan. Speaking about Kavacha in an interview, its director GVR Vasu told, “Ours is not a copy of the original. Also, Shiva Rajkumar does not prefer remakes and accepted the film only after the script was redrafted. This action-thriller has new elements, which is what Shivanna’s fans look forward to.” Sources say that director Vasu has included new twists in the tale which will be different from Mohanlal’s Oppam.

The Malayalam movie Oppam had Mohanlal in the lead with Samuthirakani, Anusree, Nedumudi Venu, Vimala Raman etc alongside. The movie was based on a story by Govind Vijayan and was directed by Priyadarshan. The film was a big hit and had won several prestigious awards.

Besides Kavacha, Shivanna’s fans can also expect Rustum, SRK and Drona to hit the screens this year.
