The News Minute | February 22, 2015 | 10.12 pm ISTThe Bengaluru police’s refusal to permit the VHP’s International Working President Praveen Togadia and the Shivamogga police’s permission to the PFI rally could not be equated, Home Minister K J George has said.George visited Shivamogga district on Saturday, a day after a man named Manjunath was killed in violence on Friday night. Although he attempted to console Manjunath’s family, they raised slogans against him for allegedly failing to control the violence. Police have imposed prohibitory orders in the city and that curfew too would be invoked if necessary. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and BJP have demanded that the government ban the Popular Front of India. A call for bandh given on Saturday resulted in a near complete shutdown of activity in Shivamogga city.Tweet
