Shiva Rajkumar is expecting the release of Tagaru next month and also has Kavacha to focus on. In the meantime, it is reported that the star will be playing the lead role in the Ravi Varma directorial Rustum. A popular stunt choreographer, Ravi Varma will be making his debut as director with Rustum, which will be bankrolled by Jayanna Combines.

On Shiva Rajkumar’s role in the film, we hear that he will be playing a cop. Interestingly, he will be seen as a police officer in Tagaru as well. It has been years since the star has donned such a role and his fans are excited to know what is in store for them this time around.

Shivanna, sources say, will be completing Kavacha by March and Rustum will go on the floors in April this year. Ravi Varma, who had narrated the story to the star nearly one and half years ago, has come up with an impressive script, following which the project has taken off as planned. The groundwork to get it on the floors has begun and the director is busy assembling his cast and crew. An official announcement from Ravi Varma is expected to be made soon.

Meanwhile Tagaru is gearing up for a grand release on February 9. Directed by Duniya Soori, apart from Shiva Rajkumar, the film stars Manvitha and Bhavana in the lead roles with Dhananjay, Vasishta Simha, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Devaraj in pivotal roles. Charan Raj has composed the music for this venture with Mahendra Simha cranking the camera and Deepu S Kumar editing it.

Kavacha, on the other hand, is the remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Oppam, which was directed by Priyadarshan. Shivanna will be reprising the role done by Mohanlal in the movie. The film is helmed by debutant GVR Vasu.
