Shilpa Manjunath from Sandalwood has bagged a role in Biju Menon’s Rosapoo. Incidentally, this will be the actor’s debut in the Malayalam film industry.

Sharing screen space with Neeraj Madhav, Shilpa will be playing the role Sandra in the movie which will be directed by Vinu Joseph. Speaking about her debut in the Malayalam film industry to the Times of India, the actor said, “I don't think many artistes would get such a brilliant script to make their debut. As a fresher in the industry, you often end up getting roles in commercial films where you would be relegated to just eye candy. But Rosapoo, in spite of being an entertainer, demands a lot from its characters.”

On her role in Rosapoo, she went on to add, “She's an unusual character; the kind who would stand out in a crowd. That's all I am allowed to reveal.”

Stating that the Malayalam film industry is highly competitive, she said, “There are so many talented artistes in the Malayalam film industry and for the audience to take note of someone, they look at the performance and not the looks, here. That's why I am psyched about getting to work in Mollywood.”

According to the director, the film will have 142 characters from different parts of Kerala and their dialect and appearance would reflect the state’s culture and geography.

On this, Vinu Joseph had said, “The film will have 142 characters who belong to different parts of Kerala. Hence, their slang and their appearance too will reflect Kerala's geography and culture. Alencier, Sudheer Karamana and Dileesh Pothan are also acting in the film and their roles will be unique, which we haven't seen so far.”

While Vinu has penned the script, Santhosh Echikkanam has written the dialogues. Reports say that the film will be shot extensively in Kerala and Chennai.
