The News Minute| November 27, 2014| 11.45 pm ISTKeerthana, a stage artist, mesmerized her audience in a school play on Monday in Kannur, the act culminating in a beautifully depicted death of her character.Some might call it a bad omen, but the death act was her last time on stage as fate followed her home that night.A 13 year-old stage artist, Keerthana, daughter of Ramakrishnan and Geetha who resides in Keezhalloor, Kannur, collapsed and died on Monday when she returned home soon after performing at a drama at sub-district school youth festival.On reaching home, Keerthana felt giddy and tired following which she was rushed to the hospital. Her twin sister Sandwana had been diagnosed with valvular heart disease, Keerthana too was a weak child, her parents told the doctors as the body was taken to a hospital.“She was a brilliant artist; she herself selected the play for the youth festival. I can’t forget the last scenes of the play, it was touching. She played the death scene realistically”, says Meera Bhai, Headmistress, of the school.“She returned home soon after the play with her parents, later we were shocked to hear about her death” she added.Keerthana was a class 8 student at the Koodali Higher Secondary School, Kannur. An excellent stage artist, she had won a number of awards in acting . “She was a vibrant and active student, so much interested in artistic activities. Once during the rehearsal of the play she felt tired, but later she was fine. So we did not take it seriously” said Geetha , Principal of the School.The girl’s body was kept for public display in a nearby library hall and the funeral was held on Tuesday.
