A major turning point in the case of Jishnu Pranoy was the matching of the blood samples collected from the rooms of the Vice Principal and the PRO of Nehru college of Engineering in Pampady Thrissur with that of Jishnu’s blood group.  After the forensic results proved that the blood stains collected from the college belonged to O+ group, it was sent for DNA test to confirm that it belonged to Jishnu.

But now police claim that DNA test could not be done with the samples as the quantity of the blood was very less.

“Enough quantity might not be there for examination. We cannot say whether the blood stains belonged to Jishnu Pranoy. DNA was not possible,” Thrissur rural SP told media.

The special investigation team probing the case had earlier collected blood samples from Jishnu’a parents for DNA test.

Jishnu’s family has consistently maintained that the college management had "murdered their son". Jishnu’s mother Mahija and father Ashokan K P have repeatedly alleged that Jishnu was subjected to assault by college authorities before his death.

Jishnu’s uncle Sreejith told The News Minute that police’s version which rule out the possibility of DNA test is a conspiracy.

“This report will help the accused in the case. They have confirmed that the blood found from the room where he (Jishnu) died was his own. Then why can’t they prove the blood samples found from college rooms was his. This report was prepared to weaken the evidence,” Sreejith alleged.

Usually 50 nanogram blood quantity was enough to conduct a DNA test. However, relatives allege foul play in carrying out the procedures.

Jishnu, an 18-year old first-year student of the college had reportedly killed himself on January 6, following allegations by college authorities of cheating in an examination. There were also allegations that Jishnu was subjected to brutal assault by the Vice Principal and college PRO in their office.
