Senior Telangana TDP leader breaks down on camera after being expelled by Naidu

The senior politician said that the TDP had forgotten the values of NTR and was only using his name for political gains.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Monday expelled its senior Telangana leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu, a day after he criticised party president and Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Narasimhulu's remarks had created a buzz at the TDP’s annual plenary meeting, Mahanadu, where he was not present.

Announcing the leader's expulsion, TDP Telangana unit president, L. Ramana, accused Narasimhulu of behaving in an “extreme manner” because he was denied a Governor's post.

Stating that Narasimhulu had indulged in ‘anti-party activities’ which did not suit a leader of his stature, Ramana said that the decision was taken after many statements made by the former.

This comes just days after Narasimhulu alleged that that there was a conspiracy to remove him from the party.

Speaking to reporters after he was expelled, Narasimhulu broke down in front of the cameras and said that the TDP had forgotten the values of party founder NT Rama Rao, and was only using NTR's name for political gains.

"Even when NTR died, I was with him till his last moments and even held his hand. It pains me to see the present state of the party," he said.

Narasimhulu didn't attend the TDP's 'Mahanadu' in Hyderabad earlier this week and also said that he was being insulted and sidelined because he was a Dalit, as Naidu had not given him five minutes even though he spent close to 30 years in the party.

Terming the chief minister 'anti-Dalit', Narasimhulu told reporters, ‘’I have worked hard for TDP and it took a toll on my health. Yet, I was ignored for Mahanadu and was not invited."

He also remarked that Naidu barely visited Telangana after he had shifted his base to Amaravati.

“I took blows for Naidu, I have trusted him. If he comes to here once in six months what is the situation of party workers?” he asked.

He also said that the future of the TDP in Telangana was bleak, unless drastic steps were taken.

In January this year, Narasimhulu triggered a controversy after he suggested that the Telangana unit of the party should “merge with the TRS”.

The leader was speaking to mediapersons on the occasion of the 22nd death anniversary of former Chief Minister and TDP founder NT Rama Rao.
