Suriya and filmmaker Selvaraghavan have teamed up for the first time for a project titled NGK with its abbreviation rumoured to be ‘Nanda Gopalan Kumaran’. This film marks their first association and naturally expectations are high. Incidentally, Suriya’s brother, actor Karthi, and Selvaraghavan had worked together in Aayirathil Oruvan earlier.

The makers have opted for a major change for the editor of the film – national award-winning editor KL Praveen has replaced GK Prasanna, who is a former assistant of ace film editor Sreekar Prasad.

While not much is known about the genre of the film or the subject it might deal with, in the first look that was released Suriya resembles popular leader and revolutionist Che Guevara. The industry grapevine is that the film could be a political drama and Suriya may play a leader.

Recently, the makers recreated a set of the town of Ambasamudram on a lavish budget of over Rs 3 crore. The entire second schedule was shot in this set which, according to the team, will be one of the highlights of the project.

Bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures, NGK also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi as the leading ladies.

Selvaraghavan took to Twitter to say he considers himself fortunate to work with actors Suriya, Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh. Appreciating their performances, Selvaraghavan said, “What can I say? A Filmmaker’s delight. Working with three wonderful actors. The astounding @Suriya_offl, the astonishing @Sai_Pallavi92and the perfectionist @Rakulpreet .. Superb performances. Having a wonderful time. #NGK.”

The movie has cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan of Iraivi fame and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Reports indicate that the film would hit the marquee as a Deepavali release and will likely lock horns with the Vijay starrer directed by AR Murugadoss.

After wrapping up NGK, Suriya will start shooting for his action thriller film with director KV Anand by the end of this year, which also stars Mohanlal in a pivotal role.
