Indian 2, which is being directed by Shankar marks Kamal Haasan’s return as the Octogenarian vigilante Senapathy. The film's shooting has been resumed after a long gap of 8 months since it was put on the back burner due to undisclosed reasons soon after being announced.

After wrapping up the first schedule, director Shankar and team are currently camped in Andhra Pradesh where they have resumed the second schedule.The makers are now geared up to complete shooting the project as planned in a span of next three months across Chennai, Andhra Pradesh and Taiwan.

According to sources from the film’s unit, Kamal wants to be relieved from shooting by end of November as he has major plans for his party, Makkal Needhi Maiam. 

The news about Indian 2 was first announced during the first season of Tamil Bigg Boss, which was hosted by Haasan. Meanwhile, Haasan is believed to shed weight to play his role in Indian 2.  Having teased fans with the first poster of the film on the occasion of Pongal earlier this year; the makers hope to wrap up the shooting portion in the next six months. 

It has already been confirmed that Kajal Aggarwal plays the leading lady and recently Priya Bhavani Shankar was signed as the replacement for Aishwarya as she opted out due to date clashes with her other projects. The film also has  Siddharth, who had worked with Shankar in Boys, has been roped in for a crucial role and he will be seen playing the role of a cop. 

The film is being bankrolled by Lyca Productions on a lavish budget. It was also revealed recently that lensman Ravi Varman opted out of Indian 2 to keep himself available for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan. Apparently, Shankar had immediately replaced him with cinematographer Rathnavelu, who had previously worked in Enthiran.
