Two people were killed on Monday night at Chennai’s Pattinampakkam after one of the victims, Nandini tried to stop a man from snatching her bag.

The incident took place at around 9:30pm on Monday when 24-year-old Nandini, a school teacher was returning home by scooter after withdrawing cash from an ATM with her relative Gayathri. It was then Karunakaran, who was also riding a two-wheeler attempted to snatch her bag near St. Thomas Church.

Karunakaran lost control of the scooter he was riding after being hit by Nandini. While Nandini lost balance and fell from her bike, suffering a head injury, Karunakaran rammed his scooter into a pedestrian, Shekhar, killing him on the spot as well.
