Following the death the Saudi king Abdullah, Saudis, ready to welcome their new ruler have pledged allegiance to King Salman by "shaking hands" with full size cardboard cut outs of the new king.

The video below shows three people standing behind the cutouts - which have a slot for putting a hand through, shaking hands with the people that pass by.

The ceremony, called a bay’ah, is a traditional Islamic oath of allegiance to a leader.

Thousands of Saudis, all across the kingdom, are also pledging loyalty to cardboard proxies of the stand-ins for Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz and Prince Mohammed bin Nayef also.
