The official teaser of Vijay-AR Murugadoss’s upcoming film Sarkar, is out and we’re introduced to the “corporate monster”. The 1.5 minute teaser was released on Friday.

We’re given to understand that Vijay’s character has come to the country to exercise his right to vote. However, he finds that someone else has cast his vote. Earlier, during an interview, AR Murugadoss had revealed that Vijay's character in the film has been inspired by Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

In fact, Vijay goes by the name 'Sundar' in the film. The actor's styling also looks very similar to the Google CEO.

Speaking to Vikatan, Murugadoss said that the film is about a man from the corporate world entering politics. He also added that the team had done a lot of research on Sundar Pichai's life.

The teaser shows us Vijay’s transformation, where he fights goons and delivers the punchline - “I’m a corporate criminal” - in his trademark delivery style that we’re very well used to.

There are also ample shots in the teaser that give us a fair idea of the political references in this film. The makers have paid attention to all the recent events, right from the Thoothukudi firings to the tragic immolation of a family caught in the webs of usury.

There’s a mass protest that turns violent, a split second shot of people immolating themselves outside a police station and the teaser ends with “Get ready folks! Find out your leader. This is our Sarkar!”

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar appears to be playing an IAS officer in the film. It's her voiceover through which we're introduced to Vijay's character.

This is the third-time collaboration between Vijay and AR Murugadoss, following Thuppakki and Kaththi. Keerthy Suresh has joined hands with Vijay again after last year’s Bairavaa. The film also stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Arjun Sarja, Radha Ravi, Prem Kumar and Yogi Babu. Sarkar has been slated for release this Diwali.

During the film’s audio launch, Vijay made a politically loaded speech, sparking off speculations. Comparing Sarkar to his previous hit Mersal, Vijay said, “There was a bit of politics in Mersal. Here, he’s (referring to AR Murugadoss) done ‘mersal' in politics.”
