He’s no longer a comedian who plays second fiddle to a hero. Having successfully cemented his career as a solo hero with films such as Inimey Ippadithaan and Dhilukku Dhuddu, Santhanam is pushing the envelope with each film.

While his first two films as hero were largely entertaining, he tried his hands at action in horror-comedy Dhilukku Dhuddu. His upcoming film, Sakka Podu Podu Raja, will be the toughest in his career so far in terms of action as it has three major fight scenes.

Talking about the action in the film, Santhanam told Times of India, “I haven't explored action in a big way in my earlier films. Also, I got to work with fight master Kanal Kannan, who has done stunts for mass heroes. The ones we will be doing in this film are quite risky yet realistic. We shot one in the Spencer Plaza terrace parking lot, with over 40 fighters. I had rehearsed for the scenes much in advance as they can't be performed in one take. The kicks required a lot of practice and there were stunts that I had to perform with ropes. We were particular about rehearsals as I wanted to do them without a dupe. I am happy with the way the scenes have turned out.”

The film is being directed by Sethuraman, and it also stars Vivekh, Sampath, Robo Shankar and VTV Ganesh. Simbu makes his debut as music composer with this project, which is nearing completion.
