The Telugu film Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, starring Naveen Polishetty in the lead role, did well at the box office and won positive reviews. The film was directed by Swaroop RSJ with Naveen playing the lead role. He also co-wrote the story along with the director.

The film was produced by Rahul Yadav Nakka. Shruti Sharma, Darbha Appaji Ambarisha and Suhas played important roles in this entertainer, which is about the dangers of a Nellore-based detective, who investigates the case of an abandoned dead body found near a railway track, has to endure during the course of an investigation.

With excellent box office records, plans are on to remake this comedy thriller in Tamil. Reports are that the comedian turned hero Santhanam is in talks to reprise the role done by Naveen in the original. Manoj Beedha of Vanjagar Ulagam fame is likely to direct the remake.  There are also reports of Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya being remade in Hindi but details about it are yet to be disclosed.

Recently Santhanam signed a new film in which he will be essaying triple roles for the first time in his career. To be written and directed by Karthik Yogi, the film will be produced by Balloon director Sinish in association with KJR Studios, who had recently bankrolled Nayanthara’s Airaa. It is worth mentioning that Santhanam has previously played a dual role in the Karthi-starrer All in All Azhagu Raja. The upcoming yet-untitled project will go on floors soon and the makers are planning to release it in April 2020. The film will have two female leads, and if the industry grapevine is anything to go by, then Oviya is said to have been approached for one of the roles. 

The actor's last releases Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 and A1 earlier this year were well-received by audiences. He currently has Dagaalty in the making. Also, three of his films Oodi Oodi Uzhaikanum, Mannavan Vanthanadi and Server Sundaram, which have been in the cans for a long time, are yet to hit the marquee.
