Dhanush released the newest poster of his upcoming film Vada Chennai and it has gone viral as expected. The poster also introduces another character in the film. While the first poster revealed that Andrea Jeremiah would be seen as Chandra, the second poster shows actor-director Samuthirakani’s character as Guna.

On the poster release, Dhanush had tweeted: “#vadachennai … @thondankani as #guna .. The taste of blood is insatiable.” The teaser of the film was released on Dhanush’s birthday last month and has garnered the attention of film buffs.

Directed by Vettrimaran, Vada Chennai marks his third time association with Dhanush after their two previous outings Polladhavan and Aadukalam were hits. Incidentally, Aadukalam went on to win several National Awards including the best actor for Dhanush and best director for Vettrimaran.

The duo also producer Kaaka Muttai together which won the National Film Award for Best Children's Film. The first look teaser was released on July 28, which happens to be Dhanush's birthday.

Vada Chennai, which has been in the making for quite a few years now, is all set for release this year. It has Dhanush in the lead role with Aishwarya Rajesh as his lead pair. Andrea Jeremiah, Samuthirakani, Ameer, Daniel Balaji, Kishore, Karunas and Pawan form the rest of the star cast.

Most of the first part was shot in an elaborate jail set that was erected in Chennai on a lavish budget. The film also stars filmmaker Ameer in an important role and the rumour has it that this role was originally offered to Vijay Sethupathi, who opted out of the project for reasons unknown.

Santosh Narayan is the music director for Vada Chennai while Velraj is the cinematographer and GB Venkatesh is the editor. The film is bankrolled by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films and its distribution rights have been bagged by Lyca Productions.

Vada Chennai, as the title suggests, is set in north Chennai. The film revolves around the character Anbu played by Dhanush. He is a talented carom player aspiring to become a national level champion and the challenges he faces during the course of his journey.
