After a lot of rumors and speculations about Samsung’s foldable phone, the South Korean company officially unveiled the device at its event ‘Galaxy Unpacked ‘ in San Francisco on Wednesday.
Much of what had been rumoured has come true. The RAM, for example, as predicted, is a whopping 12GB and the storage 512GB with no provision for a microSD card slot. The primary display when fully spread out is 7.3 inches and in the folded condition, its 4.6 inches.
The device draws power from two batteries, which had also been talked about earlier. The two batteries are placed on the two folds of the Samsung Galaxy Fold, which is the name given to the phone. Samsung will sell this phone in two versions, 4G and 5G.
The other significant factor with this new foldable phone is the presence of a total of six cameras in it. The main rear camera setup has three shooters of 16MP, 12MP and 16MP in that order. The inside of the foldable phone feature two more cameras, 10MP and 8MP and the front camera for selfies is 10MP in size.

The Galaxy Fold has a fingerprint scanner is on the side of the phone, like the Galaxy S10E. Drew Blackard, Samsung senior director of product marketing has said that this is to ensure users can access it whether the phone is open or close.
The reason the company decided to launch the phone in the US first may have to do with the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Fold will be made available only the customers of T-Mobile and AT&T in the US. There is as yet no clarity on the schedule for release in the other markets.
While all regular Android apps will function on the foldable phone, the developers need to factor in the change in screen size from phone to tablet.
To be released in four colours, cosmos black, space silver, Martian green and astro blue, the Samsung Galaxy Fold will be priced as high as $1980. The phone’s sales begin only on April 26, 2019.
