There has never been any doubt that the top smartphone manufacturers and brands look at the Indian market with enormous interest and consider it one market that has immense growth potential. But a leader in the segment like Samsung has learnt it through the hard way that this is a price-sensitive market and though the top-end phones do sell in India, their numbers may not add to much. To set this right, Samsung has decided to flood the market with phones in every price slot.

The South Korean company has a point to prove as well since it lost the leadership position in the Indian mobile phone market to Xiaomi and the introduction of lower priced phones targeted at the young phone buyers in the country is aimed at regaining that lost position.

Samsung plans to announce three smartphones in its new M series for the Indian market on February 5 and all these phones are likely to be priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000, it is learnt. These phones are expected to be sold online through Amazon as well Samsung India’s website.

The report says the company did a study and found that some of the key features the young smartphone buyers and users were looking for included longer battery life, better camera features and the display size being conducive for playing games and watching videos. These are being factored in in the three devices being launched next month.

The specifications and features being predicted for the three phones are display above 6 inches and 5000mAh batteries. Samsung says the devices will help buyers looking to carryon gaming, shopping and entertainment with their smartphones and enable them to have an immersive experience. There will be a dual or even a triple camera setup in at least one or two of the devices with AI support for pre-post-clicking of images.

Samsung already has a large manufacturing facility for mobile phones near India’s capital and a very large showroom in Bangalore for its devices.
