Samantha Akkineni and director Nandini Reddy are basking in glory over the grand success of their recent release Oh Baby. The Samantha starrer is the official remake of the South Korean comedy-drama Miss Granny that was written by Shin Dong-ik, Hong Yun-jeong and Dong Hee-seon and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk.

Now the makers are gearing up to release the Tamil dubbed version of the film. The Tamil version is scheduled to hit the screens on August 15 for Independence Day along with Jayam Ravi’s Comali and Sasikumar’s sports drama Kennedy Club. The production house took to Twitter to announce the release date of the Tamil and Malayalam versions.

The film is about a woman in her 70s who magically finds herself in the body of her 20-year-old self after having herself photographed at a mysterious photo studio. Samantha plays the younger version and veteran actor Lakshmi plays the senior version in the film. The star cast also includes Rao Ramesh and Naga Shaurya in important roles. The film was bankrolled by Sunita Tati under the banner People’s Media Factory and Suresh Productions. Mickey J Meyer composed the music for this film.

Samantha has been having a great year with hit releases like Super Deluxe and Majili. She is currently busy with a couple of films in the pipeline. Apart from playing a cameo in the Nagarjuna starrer Manmadhudu 2, Samantha also has the Telugu remake of the Tamil film 96. C Prem Kumar, who had directed the original version, is wielding the megaphone for this version as well, with Dil Raju bankrolling the project under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. The Tamil film 96 turned out to be one of the biggest hits last year, following which its remake rights for Telugu and Kannada were lapped up. The Telugu remake stars Sharwanand and Samantha as the lead pair.
