“It’s a strange cabal of brahmacharis with Salman as the reigning deity,” writes Namrata Joshi for the Outlook.

The article she wrote, is about a documentary on Salman Khan’s fans, who live his on-screen persona in their real lives: being a virgin, marrying a “sweet, simple girl”, smug, body building, hyper masculinity and more.

In a documentary called Being Bhaijaan, Shabani Hassanwalia and Samreen Farooqui follow the lives and psyches of three Salman fans named Shan Ghosh, Balram and Bhaskar.

“Salman speaks to men like no other star. For Bhai’s brotherhood, their value system, courage, meaning in life come from him,” the pair says.

In the Outlook report, read about how the three fans live their lives, their views on masculinity, sex, marriage, and girls. They’ve even formed a WhatsApp group called Jai Salman, and greet each other by saying “Jai Salman”.
