First, he had an issue with women wearing leggings and now National Award-winning Malayalam actor Salim Kumar has figured out a new problem afflicting society – women candidates in elections.

Kumar, who won the National Award in 2010, has criticized and questioned the need for 52% reservation for women in local bodies in Kerala.

In an interview to a Malayalam newspaper, he claimed that women candidates were “far greedier” for power than men.

“This reservation will increase their desire to be in power. Then they will wish to contest from general seats also in the next elections. Soon, there will be less male elected representatives in Kerala,” the actor mansplained.

His eloquence did not stop there. “When I went to vote I did not find any familiar (male) names in the candidate list. Have they all became martyrs to women reservation?” he adds.

But here’s the cherry on top. Wait for it.

He has also declared that he is a Congress supporter, a party that is, lead by a woman.
