The News Minute | November 11, 2014 | 5:25 pm IST Telangana has seen a lot of politicians switch parties in the past few months since the formation of the new state on June 2nd this year. However, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) seems to be bagging all the prizes as many top MLAs and party leaders have switched over to the ruling party in the state of Telangana. Telakapalli Ravi, a journalist and political analyst told The News Minute that “The politician’s crossover to other parties only after the election is done in the name of protecting the people’s interests.” On June 25, nine MLCs and two MLAs from the opposition parties crossed over to the TRS. The list also comprised of five Congress MLCs including veteran leader K R Amose, Two TDP MLCs and BSP MLAs, A. Indrakaran Reddy and Koneru Konappa also crossed over. On September 2, the TRS inducted two Congress MLAs, a YSRCP MLA and three Congress MLCs. The TRS already has an alliance with the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and all the crossovers only strengthen their already strong grip in the state “Both the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have witnessed crossovers. Party members from YSR congress jumped to the TDP soon after the elections in AP” Mr. Ravi added Mr. Ravi also emphasized on the point that the party members could also protect the interest of the people while sitting in the opposition.“They just want to sail with the ruling party and it is their own interest they want to protect” he concluded.
