Premam actor Sai Pallavi has signed on the dotted lines to star in a new Telugu film. To be directed by Venu Udugala, it is touted to be a love story set in the 1990s. While the heroine has been roped in, the director is yet to sign up a hero. Earlier, there were unconfirmed reports that Tamil actor Karthi may be playing the lead role.

Sai Pallavi hogged the limelight with her debut in Mollywood with Premam in 2015. Before that, she was seen as a child artiste in Kasturi Mann and in an uncredited role in Dhaam Dhoom. She went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut - South for her performance in Premam and since then has been bagging some of the prestigious roles in Tollywood. The actor made her debut in the Tamil film industry with the AL Vijay directorial this year and has a couple of movies lined up for release.

Besides Maari 2 and NGK in Tamil, Sai Pallavi has also signed up a Telugu film titled Padi Padi Leche Manasu directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. She is paired opposite Sharwanand in this romantic entertainer. Produced by Prasad Chukkapalli and Sudhakar Cherukuri under the banner Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas, the film is scheduled for release on September 21.

Director Venu Udugula, known for directing the movie Needi Nadi Oke Katha, impressed Sai Pallavi with an excellent script so much so that she decided to take up the project immediately, say sources. The director is known for using the new technology known as the Dogme 95 style of filmmaking in his first film and it needs to be seen if he would be using something unique for this venture.
