Sai Dharam Tej, nephew of the ‘Mega Star’ Chiranjeevi and ‘Power Star’ Pawan Kalyan, has had two consecutive duds at the box office with Thikka and Winner failing to impress movie buffs.

Following this, the young actor is desperately in need of a hit to seal his place in the Telugu film industry. Therefore, expectations are rife over the release of his upcoming film Jawaan.

While all eyes are on the release date of the film, we hear that it has been postponed to avert a major box office clash.

Sources say, that given the patriotic theme of the film, the makers were keen on having it released on August 11, to cash in on the long Independence Day weekend.

However, with news that Nithin’s Lie and Srinu Boyapati’s Jaya Janaki Nayaka are also slated to release on the same day, the Jawaan team are looking for a fresh release. It is said that Sai Dharam Tej is keen on a solo release and may zero in on such a date.

Enquiries revealed that the film may hit the marquee on September 1 and an official announcement regarding this will be made soon.

Interestingly, this was the day the Jr NTR starrer Janatha Garage made it to the silver screens last year. Sai Dharam Tej is an ardent Jr NTR fan.

Jawan, directed by BVS Ravi, has Mehreen playing the female lead. The supporting cast includes Prasanna, Satyam Rajesh and Kota Srinivasa Rao. S Thaman has composed music for this venture with KV Guhan cranking the camera and SR Shekhar editing it.

Presented by Dil Raju, the film is produced by Krishna under the banner Arunachal Creations.
