Kamal Haasan starrer Sabaash Naidu, a spin-off on the popular character Balram Naidu from Dasavatharam went on to the floors a couple of years ago but it was put in the backburner after the star suffered a fracture. The accident and some events that happened later stalled the film’s progress in a big way.

With Vishwaroopam II hitting the silver screens after a very long delay earlier this month, fans are expecting news about Sabaash Naidu. In an interview to a leading daily, Kamal’s daughter and actor Shruti Haasan revealed that the project is very much on cards and will recommence soon.

When Sabaash Naidu commenced, it was revealed that the project would be directed by TK Rajeev Kumar. But after directing for a couple of days, he suffered a major illness following which Kamal Haasan took over the mantle from him.

While Kamal’s older daughter Shruti Haasan will be playing a role in the film, his younger daughter Akshara Haasan will be assisting him in direction. The screenplay and story have been penned by Kamal Haasan. Dialogues for the Tamil version have been written by Kamal while Shashank Vennelakanti has worked on the Telugu version and Saurabh Shukla for the Hindi version.

Sabaash Naidu is a tri-lingual made in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi simultaneously and is based on the Balram Naidu, a character from Kamal’s earlier film Dasavatharam. The film is bankrolled jointly by Kamal Haasan, S Chandrahasan and A Subaskaran under the banners Lyca Productions and Raaj Kamal Films International.

It stars Kamal Haasan, Brahmanandam, Shruti Haasan, Ramya Krishnan, Manu Narayan and Jason Shah. Ilayaraja is composing music for this venture with Jaya Krishna Gummadi cranking the camera.

According to reports, his sequel to Indian, directed by Shankar, will commence after the star is done with Sabaash Naidu.
