It has been confirmed that reports about the Telugu remake of the hit Tamil film Vikram Vedha are false. The production house, Y Not Studios, have now given out a press statement confirming that there is no truth whatsoever about the remake and also requested media to refrain from spreading it.

Earlier, there were rumors about this film being remade in Telugu with N Balakrishna and Dr Rajasekar in the lead roles. The press statement from the production house reads, “YNOT officially announces that all news related to Sri. Nandamuri Balakrishna and Dr Rajasekhar playing the lead in the Telugu remake of our 2017 blockbuster Tamil Film Vikram Vedha being circulated on mainstream print and online media are absolutely false and are classified as baseless rumours. Additionally, we state that the remake rights of Vikram Vedha remains vested with us, and we kindly request the film and the press and media fraternity to ignore such unauthentic news until we make an official announcement.”

While the Hindi remake rights of the film have recently been secured by producer-director Neeraj Pandey’s company Friday Filmworks.

Vikram Vedha, released in 2017, turned out to be a hit at the box office. The film starred R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the title roles with Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Shraddha Srinath playing the female leads.

An action entertainer, Vikram Vedha has been written and directed by Pushkar and Gayathri and produced by S Sashikanth under his banner Y NOT Studios. Made on a budget of Rs 11 crores, it collected about Rs 50 crores at the box office.

According to trade reports, the film has grossed Rs 10 crores during the opening week in Tamil Nadu. CS Sam had composed the tunes for this flick with PS Vinod cranking the camera and Richard Kevin editing it. Vikram Vedha was not only a commercial success but also turned out to be a critically acclaimed film.
