The Narcotics Control Bureau on Friday nabbed a Brazilian national for carrying a 3.7kg consignment of cocaine in Chennai.

According to The Times of India, the Brazilian, identified as Dasilva Jailson concealed the cocaine worth Rs. 10 Crore in four notebooks and seven children’s books.

Dasilva Jaison landed in Chennai airport from Dubai and is reported to have bypassed all the security checks before he walked out of the airport.

The New Indian Express reports that the Narcotics Control Bureau acted on a tip-off and nabbed him from a hotel in Pallavaram.

“Jailson was travelling from Rio to Chennai via Dubai. He had a tourist visa valid till February 2017 but was planning to leave on September 24 after delivering the contraband,” an official from NCB told TOI.

The courier, booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, has been sent to Puzhal jail.

Another official told TOI that cocaine was seized from a Brazilian national in December last year, though the modus operandi had been different.
