This too shall be entrusted with Rosshan’s favourite scriptwriter duo – Bobby and Sanjay. Another cop film the three of them did together in the past was the Prithviraj starrer Mumbai Police, which had broken many stereotypes with the protagonist playing a gay policeman.

Kayamkulam Kochunni, again scripted by Bobby and Sanjay, is expected to release for Onam this year.  An official confirmation regarding this will be out soon.

The film stars Nivin Pauly in the title role with Mohanlal playing an extended cameo.

It is produced by Gokulam Gopalan under the banner Sree Gokulam Movies. The cast also includes Priya Anand, Priyanka Thimmesh, Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony, Manikandan R. Achari, Thesni Khan, Shine Tom Chacko, Jude Anthany Joseph and Sudev Nair.

Composing music for this flick is Gopi Sunder with Binod Pradhan wielding the camera and A Sreekar Prasad being the editor. The shooting of this film began in Mangalore, and has been shot in Manjeshwar, and Udupi. Playing a highwayman in the film, Nivin Pauly underwent special training in Kalaripayattu under the guidance of trained experts, say sources.

Kayamkulam Kochunni is a film about the real-life legend by the same name, a Robin Hood styled highwayman who lived in the early 19th century Kerala.

Director Roshan Andrews is one of the prolific directors in the Malayalam film industry. He has directed blockbusters such as Udayananu Tharam, Notebook and Evidam Swargamanu in the past. He also directed the film How Old Are You that marked the comeback of actor Manju Warrier in the Malayalam film industry while the Tamil remake of it - 36 Vayadhinile - brought back actor Jyothika to the silver screen after many years.
