The shooting of Kayamkulam Kochunni was wrapped up a few weeks ago and it is now in the post-production mode. The film is scheduled for release this Onam and the team is working hard to meet the deadline. The promos have begun already and as a part of it the first song from the album was released on social media recently. As expected, it is doing well among film buffs and has gone viral.

The song beginning with the lyrics ‘Kalariyadavum Chuvadinazhakum’ is a romantic number. Rendered by Vijay Yesudas and Shreya Ghoshal, it has been composed by Gopi Sunder and the lyrics have been penned by Shobin Kannangattu. ‘Kalariyadavum Chuvadinazhakum’ features the film’s lead pair, Nivin Pauly and Priya Anand.

Kayamkulam Kochunni is a film based on the legendary highwayman who lived during the early 19th century. He was a Robin Hood type thief who stole from the rich to feed the poor. Directed by Roshan Andrews, the film stars Nivin Pauly as Kayamkulam Kochunni. Nivin took training in Kerala’s traditional martial arts Kalaripayattu to play the highway robber. With short cropped hair, handlebar moustache and beefed up physique, Nivin will sport a menacing look in the film.

Veteran actor Mohanlal is doing an extended cameo in the flick and plays the role of Ithikara Pakki. And with the star losing some weight for Odiyan, his look in the movie will be a special treat to watch as well.

The film’s star cast also includes Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Babu Antony, Priyanka Thimmesh, MS Bhaskar and others in supporting roles. The cinematography has been handled by three ace cinematographers – Binod Pradhan, Nirav Shah and Sudheer Palsane. While Sreekar Prasad is the editor, the sound design has been handled by the national award winning sound engineer PM Satheesh.

Kayamkulam Kochunni is bankrolled by Gokulam Gopalan under his banner Sree Gokulam Films on a budget of Rs 40 crore. Reports indicate that the film will be released in over 300 screens throughout Kerala, which will ensure a massive opening.
