The News Minute | December 19, 2014 | 09:31 am IST A strange element that pulls rice towards it. The rare element falls to Earth when lightning strikes, more so if it hits a vessel. After hundreds of years, the element develops the power to pull things towards it. This was the premise of a con by a group of men who allegedly cheated a Tumkur politician of Rs 6 cr, states a report by Bangalore Mirror. The men approached the politician, claiming they had knowledge of the element. The gang also claimed that the 'rice puller was to be used in satellites and nuclear weapons and that NASA and ISRO would buy it for thousands of crore of rupees', states the report. But the men claimed that the vessel was in possession of another group from which it had to be purchased. The politician claimed he paid Rs 6 cr to the gang over six months. According the report, initially, the politician felt too humiliated to complain, but then decided to lodge a complaint. On Wednesday, he filed a written complaint in the office of the DG&IG stating the pain and suffering caused to him by the fraud. Several other people too have fallen for this scam, according to the politician's advocate. However, the politician is in 'no mood to reveal himself for now', adds Bangalore Mirror. Read Bangalore Mirror's full report here: Gang uses ‘rice pulling’ con to cheat Tumkur politician of Rs 6 cr
