There were huge expectations among film buffs, especially Mohanlal fans, about the trailer of his upcoming film Drama coming out on Independence Day. However, it did not happen for obvious reasons. With the state reeling under heavy rains and the situation being grim with several dams being opened due to floods, the film team may not have felt it right to release the trailer.

Scripted and directed by Ranjith, Drama will be a complete family entertainer that delves on the lives of the NRIs living in the UK. Reports are that it will be loaded with family sentiments, with the lead pair being played by Mohanlal and Asha Sharath.

Besides them, the cast also includes Arundhathi Nag, Siddique, Niranj, Mythili, Shalin Zoya and Tini Tom and Baiju. We also hear that the cast includes three directors - Dileesh Pothen, Shyama Prasad and Johny Antony – playing pivotal roles. Vinu Thomas is scoring the music and Azhagappan is cranking the camera for this film.

Drama is bankrolled by MK Nassar and Maha Subair under the banners Lilypad Motion Pictures and Varnachithra Good Line Productions. The trailer of Drama will be released on a later date and it will be announced officially soon, we hear.

It may be noted here that Mohanlal and Ranjith have a good track record at the box office. They had first teamed up for Ravanaprabhu in 2001 and worked together in films such as Chandrolsavam in 2005, Rock N' Roll in 2007, Spirit in 2012, Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty in 2013 (cameo appearance), and Loham in 2015.

Reports are that several film releases will also be postponed due to the floods in Kerala. Biju Menon’s Padayottam, scheduled for release on August 17th, stands postponed as of now.

The shooting of another Mohanlal film, Odiyan, was wrapped up some time ago and it is currently in the post production stage. The film is expected to release on October 11th this year.
