Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film, scheduled for release on Sankaranti next year, has been postponed to April 4 to cash in on the Ugadi weekend. Directed by Vamsi Paidapally, the team is currently stationed in Dehradun shooting important portions for the film.

Titled, #Mahesh 25 tentatively, the upcoming flick marks Mahesh’s 25th film in Tollywood.

The film, which is yet to be titled, has Pooja Hegde playing the female lead. Allari Naresh has also been roped in for a significant role in the film. The film marks the foray of the well-known lensman KU Mohanan, known for his work in films such as Don and Raees, into the Telugu filmdom.

The movie had earlier run into trouble following a legal suit filed by PVP Cinemas alleging that their intellectual property rights were violated. This issue was amicably settled between the parties – Dil Raju, Ashwini Dutt and PVP Cinemas – through an out of court settlement. As per reports, PVP Cinemas will be producing the film along with Dil Raju and Ashwini Dutt.

Vamsi Paidapally has quashed rumours that alleged the movie was an adaptation of an international series. He wrote on Twitter that the news was ‘baseless’.

Mahesh Babu’s last outing was Bharath Ane Nenu which hit the silver screens on April 27 this year. The film was a grand success following which expectations are high on his next.

Ram Charan Teja’s untitled film, which is being directed by Boyapati Srinu, is also gearing up for a Sankaranti release next year. Also, Balayya’s NTR biopic is eyeing the January 9 slot for its release along with the YSR biopic, Yathra, which has Mammootty playing the titular role.
