The much-anticipated Ee Ma Yau, which caught the attention of the film buffs with its unconventional poster will reportedly not hit the silver screens this year. Plans were afoot to release the film this year, but it has been postponed to next year. The film was shot in just 18 days, but the wait is far from over. The decision to postpone the release after its preview screenings comes as a surprise.

Speculations about the reason for Ee Ma Yau’s release date being postponed have already started doing the rounds. However, sources close to the film unit say that the post-production digital intermediate (DI) work on the film was not in accordance with the standards expected by the filmmakers, so the team was reworking it. On the other hand, the film’s director Lijo Jose Pellissery has reportedly said that the film has been invited for screenings in various prestigious international film festivals. The makers intend to release it in Kerala after the film fest screenings.

Written by PF Mathews and directed by Mollywood's experimental director Lijo Jose Pellisery, Ee Ma Yau stars Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose and Dileesh Pothan in the lead roles and Bitto Davis, Pauly Kannamaly, Kainagiri Thangaraj and Krishna Padmakumar as are part of its supporting cast.

Prashanth Pillai has composed music for this flick with Shylu Khalid cranking the camera, and Deepu Joseph editing it. The film has been bankrolled by Rajesh George Kulangara under his banner RGK Cinemas and will be distributed by Central Pictures.

With the suspense over Ee Ma Yau’s release date looming large, fans have to wait for an official announcement about it from the filmmakers.
