A few weeks earlier, the media was abuzz with the news that Vijay’s Mersal and Vikram’s Sketch are slated to hit the silver screens for Diwali this year. While this news had the adrenaline pumping in excitement among the fans of both stars, trade analysts were of the opinion that the box office clash should be averted, as it is not good for the trade.

Well, keeping in line with these thoughts, Sketch’s director Vijay Chander has now clarified that the film is not set for a Diwali release as speculated. He has reportedly pointed out in an interview that all that his team is concentrating right now on is the audio launch function. He said that the release date will be decided later on. Vijay Chander added that a single from the album was released to commemorate Vikram’s birthday, and this had raised speculation that the film would be a Diwali release.

With Sketch not in the Diwali race, Vijay’s fans are gearing up to celebrate a massive opening for their star’s film. Directed by Atlee, Mersal is a mega budget film that is being produced under the banner Thenandal Studio Limited by N Ramasamy, Hema Rukmani, R Mahendran and H Murali. The film has Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Agarwal and Nithya Menen playing the female leads, with Vijay appearing in a triple role. Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman is scoring the music for this flick.

Vikram’s Sketch is directed by Vijay Chander with Tammannah and Sri Priyanka playing the heroines. The film is being produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his banner V Creations. S Thaman is composing the music for this flick. According to reports about its release, we hear that it would hit the marquee on December 22 to cash in on the Christmas weekend.
