News about Keerthy Suresh’s debut in Bollywood made it to the headlines some months ago. But looks like the actor’s fans will have to wait another year to see the film out in theatres. Keerthy is currently shooting for the Hindi movie Maidaan, in which she plays the female lead, and the film’s release date was announced recently. Maidaan will hit the marquee on November 27 next year, its makers confirmed.
Keerthy is paired opposite Ajay Devgn in the film which is directed by Amit Sharma. The film, said to be based on football, is bankrolled jointly by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta under their respective banners. Keerthy Suresh has completed shooting for her portions in the first schedule and will be joining the team for the second schedule.
Besides Maidaan, Keerthy has Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, a Malayalam magnum opus in which she shares screen space with Mohanlal. The film is directed by award-winning director Priyadarshan. Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham, made on a huge budget of Rs 100 crore, is produced jointly by Antony Perumbavoor, Santhosh T Kuruvilla and CJ Roy under their respective banners Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group, and Moonshot Entertainment.
Keerthy has also signed a deal to star in the Telugu film Rang De, in which she is paired opposite Nithin. Venky Atluri is wielding the megaphone for this venture with Naga Vamsi bankrolling it under the banner Sithara Entertainments. Veteran cinematographer PC Sreeram is already on board to crank the camera for this venture and Devi Sri Prasad will be setting the music for the film.
Besides these films, Keerthy also has a female-centric multi-lingual film tilted Penguin, which is produced by Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films. Helmed by Eashvar Karthic, the film was wrapped up recently. She is also said to be a part of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan which is in the pre-production stage.
