The makers of the Kannada remake of Tamil blockbuster hit 96, have announced that the film will hit the screens on April 26 and the trailer of the film will be released on April 16. The Kannada version has been directed by Preetham Gubbi and stars Ganesh and Bhavana reprising the roles done by Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. Actors Hemanth and Samiksha will play the younger version of the lead pair in 99.

99 will be noted music director Arjun Janya’s 100th film. The first single video song of the song ‘Gamyave’, rendered by Armaan Malik with lyrics by Kaviraj was released recently. While comparisons between the original and the remake are inevitable, Kannada movie buffs who are seeing the video song for the first time are raving about it in terms of its visuals, music and rendition.

Bankrolled under the banner Ramu Enterprises, the cinematography has been handled by Santhosh Rai Pathaje.

The Tamil movie 96, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha as the lead pair, turned out to be one of the biggest hits last year. The film, released on October 4 and received widespread appreciation from film buffs, critics and film personalities. It is a C Prem Kumar directorial which has been bankrolled by Nandagopal under the Madras Enterprises banner.

The film's hit status has paved way for its remake in Telugu too. The Telugu remake rights was bagged by popular producer Dil Raju. Actors Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni will star in the Telugu version of the film, to be directed by C Prem Kumar, who helmed the original.

Govind Vasantha who gave beautiful music for the Tamil version will compose music for the Telugu version as well. If sources are anything to go by, the makers have planned to shoot Sharwa's portions in African country of Kenya, who will be seen as a photographer. While the Kenya schedule will last for 15 days after which the schedule will be shifted to Vizag and then to Hyderabad where it will be wrapped up.
