Oppo’s sub-brand Realme has launched two new models for the Indian market: Relame 5 Pro and Realme 5. The main differentiation has been brought in the processor and the camera section. In some areas like the display size and battery, the Realme 5 has better credentials than the Realme 5 Pro.

Going straight into the specifications for the two phones, the Realme 5 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch full HD display offering a screen resolution of 1080x2340pixels. The screen gets protection from Corning Gorilla Glass 3+. The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 712SoC and the RAM support is released in three variants, 4GB, 6GB and 8GB. The internal storage is being offered in two options, 64GB and 128GB with a microSD card slot to lift the storage to 256GB. The Android Pie is the operating system while the Colors OS 6.0 UI forms the skin.

The quad camera setup in the rear is a combination of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor, 8MP wide-angle sensor and 2x 2MP cameras. One of which is a portrait lens.

The front camera for selfies is 16MP in size. The optics section is fully packed with the latest imaging technology features.

The communication suite will be complete and the onboard sensors too will carryout the functions, including a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

The battery is 4035mAh and there is the VOOC 3.0 fast charging support.

Now on to the Realme 5 smartphone. This model sports a slightly larger 6.5-inch display and the screen resolution is a modest HD +, 720x1600pixels. The same Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ offers protection to the screen. The processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665SoC, signifying that this model is to be placed in the budget segment. The RAM too will be lower than the Pro version, at 3GB and 4GB variants.

The onboard storage variants are 32GB, 64GB and 128GB with the microSD card provision to expand it to 256GB. The same Android Pie will be the OS in the Realme 5 as well.

The Realme 5 has been fitted with a much smaller 12MP primary sensor with the remaining 8MP+2MP+2MP configuration in the Realme 5 Pro being kept the same. The rest of the features and technology support have not been altered. The front camera for selfies too is 13MP in size.

The battery is larger at 5000mAh.

As for pricing for these phones in the Indian market, the three variants of the Realme 5 Pro will be sold at Rs 13,999, Rs 14,999 and Rs 16,999 for the 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 8GB/128GB respectively. Available in two colour variants, Crystal Green and Sparkling Blue this phone will go on sale on Flipkart from September 4.

The lower Realme 5 will be sold from August 27 and comes in two colour variants: Crystal Blue and Crystal Purple. The prices are Rs 9,999, Rs 10,999 and Rs 11,999 for the 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB and the 4GB/128GB variants respectively.

The company has also launched a Realme Iconinc case, a Tote bag and Realme Buds 2.
