After the first schedule of the Superstar Rajinikanth starrer Darbar was wrapped up recently in Mumbai, the second schedule is now set to commence. The shooting for the film, which was launched officially in April, will continue with the next schedule from May 29.

Rajinikanth is said to have allocated 90 days for the project. He recently completed shooting for the first schedule in Mumbai and returned to Chennai two days ago. Now, the latest news is that the Superstar will be resuming shoot for the second schedule at the end of the month.

Going by the first look poster it seems that Rajinikanth plays a cop. On the other hand, several speculations within the industry have led to a buzz that the star is playing a dual role as both father and son. An official confirmation has yet to be released.

The movie also stars Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, Nivetha Thomas, Prateik Babbar, Pradeep Kabran and Jatin Sarna. The film marks the third collaboration of Nayanthara and Rajinikanth after Chandramukhi and Kuselan. Prateik will be seen playing the role of the villain’s son.

Popular lensman Santosh Sivan has been roped in on board, which the cinematographer himself took to Twitter to announce. The film will mark Sivan’s reunion with Rajinikanth after Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathi. Anirudh Ravichander has been signed on to compose music with lyricist Vivek penning the lyrics. This will be Anirudh’s second film with Rajinikanth after Petta. Other crew members include leading stunt director duo, Ram and Lakshman choreographing the action sequences and A Sreekar Prasad for editing.

The project which was earlier supposed to be produced by Sun Pictures is now being bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Sun Pictures pulled out of the project after their previous film, Sarkar directed by AR Murugadoss, was mired in controversy. Lyca had earlier produced Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and had first ventured into production with Murugadoss’s Kaththi.
